A day in the life of

As the Operations Manager, my role at Visual Print and Design is so varied. One minute I could be creating an estimate for a client, then out at a meeting and then I could be back in the office producing a roller banner.

No day can start without a good cup of tea, and once I have that in hand I can make a start on checking my emails and getting everything set for that day. We start the morning with a production meeting with the full team so that everyone is aware of all the current jobs that we have booked in. This ensures we all know what stage the jobs are at; whether in the design studio, awaiting proof approval or in production. Once this is complete I make a start on my own list of jobs; estimating, invoicing, client liaison, staff meetings, feedback, portfolio items, filing, tea maker, call taker…my list is always growing!

From the moment that I started working for Visual Print and Design I knew that I loved my job. I don’t think that anyone contemplates they will end up in in the print industry, but once you are in it, it is very infectious and you absolutely love it. Every day I get such satisfaction from my job. From speaking with clients, old and new, to seeing the final product in place and seeing our clients happy.

My advice would be to have impeccable time management! In this job, it is so important to do so as deadlines move constantly and you must be able to manage a range of projects. All the while, answering the phone and dealing with enquiries, so you must be able to juggle various things at one time.
