5 signs your company is ready for a rebrand
Brands are not born overnight. We know that it takes months and sometimes even years of hard work, time and effort to get them right.
However, change is always inevitable. There will come a time in your company’s life where you need to wave goodbye to your current branding or face the repercussions of delaying a required rebrand.
Whether your brand is six months old or 10 years old, there are several indications that will tell you it’s time for a rebrand:
1. Your business objectives have changed
Have your business goals changed since you started the business? Have your customers changed? Have you found yourself launching new services/products that don’t fit in with your original business objectives? It is important that your branding reflects what you currently offer, not 10 years ago.
2. You want to reach out to a new target market
If your company has been around for a while now, it’s fair to say that your target market has grown alongside you…or even potentially outgrown you and your products/services. Are you staying in the past with your current branding? If that’s the case, a rebrand is almost inevitable and failure to move with the times may cause your company to stagnate.
3. Your brand image has been compromised
Your reputation, both online and offline, are essential for its survival, but while it can it take thousands of pounds and years to build a reputable brand, it can only take seconds online for your reputation to be ruined. Take Burberry as an example. Once seen as popular among ‘chavs’ (which nearly ended the brand), it took a full rebrand to transform it back into one of the hottest fashion labels in the UK.
If your brand reputation has been compromised, redefining your brand will help you establish a new image and show your customers that you are willing to make amends and move on.
4. You don’t like your branding anymore
If you’re like a lot of small businesses, you probably designed your logo yourself when you first started the company. There is also a good chance you’re not very happy with it anymore. You want to be proud of your brand and if you’re a little embarrassed by it now, it could be time to elevate your brand.
5. There has been a merger or acquisition
If your organisation has recently gone through a merger or an acquisition, now is the perfect time to go through a serious rebrand. When multiple brands come together, it can be hard to keep things aligned so it makes sense to bring all brands under one single image and vision.
